We are delighted to announce that we have reached our largest membership base in the history of netball in Wales.
After several years of building back following the pandemic and refocusing our strategy to be Bigger, Better and Bolder than before, this year we have surpassed our historically highest number of people playing netball in Wales of 10,265, reaching an incredible 11,000 members across the country involved in our sport.
It is tremendous to have the support of 11,000 members following our work as a Governing Body and standing behind the most popular female first sport in Wales.
Our members are not only those who play netball in Wales, they are volunteers, Coaches, Umpires, Officials, parents and carers, fans and spectators of the sport. We would like to thank everyone who is involved in netball in Wales for your support and commitment to growing the sport we love. We are here for you and wouldn’t be here without you.
Keira Edwards, our Head of Participation, who leads the Bigger component of our strategy, aiming to have more people playing netball than ever before, says: “Surpassing our highest ever membership number is something we’re truly proud of, and don’t take for granted. Our members are the beating heart of Netball in Wales – and having more than ever before is a testament to just how brilliant our sport is!”
Laura Milford, our Head of Operations, who jointly leads the Bolder element of our strategy, pioneering a new business approach to our sport, is ‘truly appreciative of our members and the support they provide to the National Governing Body. It is wonderful to see more and more people involved in netball across Wales each year, with league committees growing and introducing innovative roles such as Social Media, Young Person Advocate and Affiliations Officer to expand and support their league membership base and providing strong governance structures for their organisations.’
Thank you to all our Netball Family and we look forward to having your back on the courts in the 2024/25 season!
