Coleg Cambria Regional Academy Spotlight

The Coleg Cambria Regional Academy aims to develop young athletes into successful netball players while fostering a love for the game. The Regional Academy is located at Coleg Cambria’s Yale site in Wrexham and provides an excellent opportunity for passionate netball athletes to excel.

This month, the focus has been on defensive principles, with the athletes working on understanding and effectively applying the stages of defence. The coaching staff at Coleg Cambria Regional Academy have been working hard to make the sessions as informative and enjoyable as possible for the athletes. Head Coach Tricia Sterling has loved working with athletes in the U15 and u17 squads and has been focusing on developing them as both netball players and individuals. The Coleg Cambria Regional Academy balances skill development and the development of culture and values aligned to the ‘Welsh Way’. These are essential for athletes hoping to transition to the next stage of our  Performance Pathway into the National Academy.

The Regional Academy Tournament in July is eagerly awaited, as the Coleg Cambria Regional Academy will compete against the other seven Regional Academies from across Wales. This tournament is an opportunity for the athletes to test their skills and knowledge and put into practice the principles they have learned.
