‘Return to Play’ Roadmap Moves to Stage 3B

On Thursday 10 September, Welsh Netball will move to Stage 3B of its ‘Return to Play’ roadmap for community netball. Stage 3B is characterised by the return of some equipment sharing for groups engaged in organised netball activity.

Stage 3B means that participants can now share equipment, such as netballs, cones and hurdles. Whilst training can still be in groups of up to 30 people, this new element of equipment sharing must only be amongst sub-groups of up to 6 participants. Prior to equipment sharing, participants and coaches should read Welsh Netball’s new ‘Hygiene in Netball’ document. Click here to be taken to the document.

Certain parts of Wales may be subject to local COVID-19 regulations. Please check your local authority’s website for area specific lockdown rules which may override Welsh Netball’s ‘Return to Play’ roadmap.

Welsh Netball continues to strongly encourage its clubs and leagues to begin engaging with Welsh Netball’s #NetsGetReady COVID-19 safety checklist. The 5-step checklist is designed to keep all participants in netball activity safe and more information on #NetsGetReady can be found here. Please note, from Stage 4 of the ‘Return to Play’ roadmap, the checklist will become mandatory for all affiliated clubs and leagues.

Please note, as ever, it is required that clubs complete a Risk Assessment prior to commencing any organised netball fitness activity. A template Risk assessment can be found here.

As with the rest of Stage 3, all organised netball activity should still be taking place outside. Group of up to 30 (including coaches) may participate and 2-meter social distancing should be observed by all participants, including under 11s.

All of the latest advice, information and guidance regarding COVID-19 and the ‘Return to Play’ roadmap can be found on the dedicated section of our website by clicking here. Any club or individual failing to adhere to the guidelines set out by Welsh Netball’s ‘Return to Play’ roadmap may be subject to investigation by the National Governing Body, local authority or Welsh Government.
