As part of recent legislative changes relating to the supervision of individuals undertaking regulated activity, we have reviewed and updated our DBS Check application process to ensure Wales Netball remains compliant and continues to provide a safe environment for everyone involved in our sport.
All coaches will now require an Enhanced Volunteer DBS Check through our provider, Vibrant Nation.
For members who hold a valid Wales Netball membership and require a DBS Check for their coaching role, Wales Netball will continue to cover the cost of the DBS Check itself as part of your Member Benefits.
Who needs a DBS check?
All roles that involve working with Children or Adults at risk in the following capacity:
Teaching, training, instructing or supervising.
In netball, if you are undertaking the above in regulated activity either more than 3 days in any 30 day period, you must complete a DBS Check. This include coaches and umpires, and volunteers who are supervising children and young people without the coach present, e.g., the Club Safeguarding Officer before the club coach arrives.

1. Complete a DBS Check request form with Wales Netball
A member of our team will create your application on the Vibrant Nation system using your details and role information (typically Volunteer Coach).
You will receive login details directly from Vibrant Nation. It is then your responsibility to complete the remaining stages of the application.
2. Complete your ID check
Download the Yoti app to verify your identity digitally.
Yoti Digital ID Check: £10 (includes up to two attempts).
Please ensure you have suitable identification ready before starting (valid driving licence and/or current passport) to avoid surpassing two attempts.
If you are unable to use the digital service, identity verification can be completed at a Post Office (charges start from £12). In person ID checks can still be organised through our Community Development/Performance Pathway Teams, as and when possible - please be aware these may take longer.
Once your identity has been verified, Vibrant Nation will process your DBS Check application and notify you when your DBS Check is complete.
3. Uploading your DBS Certificate Number
Your DBS Certificate will be posted directly to you, based on the address you have provided in Step One. Once received, please upload your DBS certificate number via the Membership Platform so that a member of the Wales Netball team can verify and record the outcome.
