Nine New Caps for Wales U17 Against England U17

Wales Under 17 played their first capped game of the season against England Under 17 in Sheffield on Sunday 18 June, going down 70-35.

Despite the disappointment of the Netball Europe U17 Open Championships being cancelled due to ‘the Beast from the East,’ the squad has been keeping busy, competing against English franchises, notably winning a Tri-Tournament agaisnt Bath and Mavericks, and recently defeating the Wasps in a thriller in Cardiff.

The weekend’s match saw players being capped for the first time this term and 9 players received their first Wales international caps. The squad performed creditably against a tough English side, doing very well to go into half-time 21-29 down.

Welsh Netball would like to congratulate the debutantes who have won their first Wales caps and thank the sponsors of the Under 17 squad: Cardiff University Sport, Gallery Loft Conversions and Hollingsworth Group.
