National Academy Trials 2022 – 2023

National Academy trials are now open for Sept 2022 – July 2023!


National Academy encompasses athletes from age 15-21 years old. The athletes all train together as one big academy and competition squads for friendly games and Europe Netball competition for their respective age groups are all chosen from this National Academy.


Trials are due to take place on Sunday 25th September 2022

Please note that this year trials will be separated by the following categories:

  • Anyone that wasn’t part of the National Academy last season will trial in the morning session (10am-1.30pm). Any successful athletes will be asked to stay and attend the afternoon session (2pm-4pm)
  • National Academy Athletes from last season will re-trial in the afternoon session (2pm – 4pm) with the successful morning athletes.


You must be eligible to play for Wales to trial for the National Academy! The eligibility criteria for the National Academy is below:

You must be aged between 15 and 21 years of age and meet one of the following:

  1. Born in Wales
  2. Have a Welsh Parent / Grandparent
  3. Been a resident in Wales for 24 months prior to competition


You must meet one of the standard requirements to trial this year which will be detailed on the Sport:80 system when you apply to trial. If you meet the eligibility criteria for National Trials, you can apply via the Sport:80 system using the following link – Sport:80

Athletes that are selected for the National Academy following the trial will need to be available on the following dates for National Academy training:

  • Sunday 25th September 2022
  • Saturday 29th October 2022
  • Saturday 26th November 2022
  • Saturday 17th December 2022
  • Sunday 22nd January 2023
  • Sunday 19th February 2023
  • Sunday 26th March 2023
  • Sunday 23rd April 2023
  • Sunday 21st May 2023
  • Saturday 24th June 2023
  • Sunday 16th July 2023

Deadline to apply to trial is Friday 23rd September 2022
