S4C to Broadcast Wales’ Games Against Malawi and Trinidad & Tobago

Wales will welcome world-class opposition to Cardiff next week and S4C will be broadcasting two of the senior team’s matches live!

As part of the 2019 Summer Tests, Wales face the Malawi, who are placed sixth in the world rankings, on Saturday 6 July at the Viola Arena in Cardiff. The following day, on Sunday 7 July, Julie Hoornweg’s squad are up against Trinidad & Tobago, who are ranked 10th in the world.


It will be the first time live netball has ever been shown on S4C.


Lauren Jenkins will lead the S4C presentation team with courtside guest Cerys Bowen providing analysis. Gareth Roberts and Sarah Roberts will provide Welsh language commentary, while English language commentary will be available via the red button service.

Welsh Netball Communications and Marketing Officer, Will Rees said: “S4C’s coverage of these international test matches is a landmark moment for netball and women’s sport in Wales. Live terrestrial coverage of these games will bring netball to new audiences across Wales at a time where netball is soaring in popularity. It will also be a fantastic opportunity to see the next generation of Wales senior netball players on court.”


S4C Sports Commissioner Sue Butler said: “Netball has a passionate and sizeable following in Wales and we will see some of the best netball teams in the world come to Cardiff during July.

“The Wales team is at the beginning of an exciting cycle in its development and in these two live televised matches, S4C will be showcasing some of the nation’s brightest netball prospects.”


Both games get underway at 5.00pm, with live coverage starting at 4.45pm on S4C. The matches will also be available to watch live online at s4c.cymru/clic, the S4C Chwaraeon Facebook page (with Welsh commentary) and the S4C Youtube page (with English commentary).

“Mae tîm Cymru ar drothwy cyfnod cyffrous yn eu datblygiad, ac yn y ddwy gêm yma, mi fydd S4C yn rhoi llwyfan i rai o chwaraewyr mwyaf llewyrchus y wlad i ddangos eu doniau.”
