Wales Ease to Victory at Netball World Youth Cup.

Wales’s U21 side have won their first game at the Netball World Youth Cup in Botswana.  Wales took on Grenada in their third pool game of the competition on Monday 10 July, and won 72 – 30.

Every member of the Wales U21 squad took to court during the match.  Head Coach Natalie Peperell is pleased with the result:

“It’s a fantastic result and one we knew we could produce.  The squad built on the progress they made in yesterday’s game against Fiji and played with confidence and determination.

“I’m proud of the way they played as a full squad and am really pleased that I could get everyone out on court.

“Bethan Johnson had a really strong performance at WA for a full 60 minutes, and at only 17 years old she’s a fantastic star of the future.”

The squad look forward to tomorrow’s challenge against Trinidad and Tobago.

“We will take the positives from today’s game into our final pool match tomorrow against Trinidad & Tobago,” said Coach Natalie Peperell.

“They play a similar Caribbean style so we will stick to our own game plan and processes by using our speed and quick ball to penetrate space and get the ball to goal.”

Wales’ starting seven:

Chloe James – Captain (GS)
Sarah Llewelyn (GA)
Bethan Johnson (WA)
Chloe Dyke ©
Megan Powell (WD)
Leila Thomas (GD)
Miquie Walker-Jones (GK)

Wales meet Trinidad and Tobago on court at 3pm (GMT).  Follow Wales’ journey at the World Youth Cup on Twitter (@welshnetball), Facebook or Instagram (@welshnetball).
