Key Dates for Return to Netball Published

After reviewing the latest Welsh Government guidance, we are pleased to publish a set of key dates for the return of community netball activity in Wales.

These dates show an incremental return to netball activity, based on the modified form of the game (traditional netball is not permitted under current COVID-19 legislation.) The dates relate to both Under 18s and adults separately and have been produced in accordance with Welsh Government guidelines and with input from government and sports sector. Accompanying these key dates is an updated version of our Return to Play FAQ document.

All of our documents, resources and updates can be access via the COVID-19 section of the website here.

Initially, you will read that only training sessions are allowed, but fixtures (limited to one fixture against one other team, once per week) will feature later in the timeline. This is to allow clubs a good window of time to restart training and therefore minimise the risk of injury before heading into a competitive situation after a long time away.

These key dates along with the newly updated FAQ document replace and override the former Return to Play Roadmap, published through last year. This reflects the updated approach of government to pandemic restrictions. As you will see, the new key dates see a return of more substantial netball activity than last year (e.g. indoor modified netball) this reflects the significant drop in some key COVID-19 indicators since netball was suspended back in the firebreak lockdown last autumn.

We hope that the return of further netball activity can be enjoyed by all across the netball community responsibly and Welsh Netball is on hand to support clubs with their return. If you have any queries regarding this update, please contact us via WelshNetball@walesnetball.com
