After five years of dedicated leadership and outstanding achievements, Sara Moore has officially stepped down from her role as Head of Performance at Wales Netball and Cardiff Dragons.
Sara has overseen the organisation’s elite performance pathway through a transformative period. Under her leadership, the Welsh Feathers reached a historic high of 6th in the World Netball Rankings — the highest ever achieved by any Welsh senior team across all sports. She also guided the squad to a trophy win at the 2024 Celtic Cup, a significant milestone for both the national and pathway programmes.
Wales Netball CEO, Sarah Boswell, said:
“We thank Sara for her work in progressing our performance programme and for her role in delivering two standout moments in Welsh sport – our 6th place world ranking and lifting the Celtic Cup trophy. We wish her the very best in her future endeavours.”
Wales Netball will begin the process of reviewing and recruiting for the next stage of performance leadership over the coming months, as we continue to build towards the 2026 Commonwealth Games and the 2027 Netball World Cup.
Beyond her leadership role, Sara has enjoyed a distinguished netball career. She is a former Welsh Feathers international player, earning her first cap at the 17th Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002. As Welsh Feather #160, she represented Wales in 81 international matches across World Cups, Commonwealth Games, Netball Europe Championships, and international test series.
Sara leaves behind a lasting legacy and a performance system well-positioned for future success!
