Let the Battle Commence

Let the Battle Commence

There is just 2 days to go until Wales, Gibraltar, Isle of Man, and the Republic of Ireland descend on the Ebbw Vale Sports Centre to compete for the Wendy White Trophy as part of the International Test Series.

The series gets underway on Friday the 14th of January and will see Gibraltar take on the Isle of Man at 5.30pm followed by Wales facing the Republic of Ireland at 7.30pm.

In November 2021, the Wales Senior Squad returned home with the series trophy from the Isle of Man Test Series. With the Manx Rams test series being the first time we have faced the squad, winning three out of three was really important.

Wales have never faced Gibraltar at senior level, and the last time Wales faced the Republic of Ireland was in 2019. Head Coach Sara Moore said, “I’m really looking forward to this test series as an opportunity for the Senior Squad to take on different nations to grow and develop as a team ahead of Commonwealth Games qualification on the 31st of January”.

The action-packed Test Series will be the first time Wales have hosted a home match since 2019. Despite not having a large crowd due to Covid-19 restrictions, it is a great opportunity to welcome Gibraltar, Isle of Man, and the Republic of Ireland to Wales to play in an exciting Test Series.
