Established in 2012, Llandudno Netball Club has been developing women and girls’ confidence and love for netball for over 13 years. As an integral part of their local community, their growth continues to rise with more players joining every year. Due to their dedication to local netball provision, they are our Organisation of the Month for May.
The club was first put together by adjoining two local teams in 2012, with the aim to provide local women with somewhere to go and get involved in netball. Soon enough, due to increased interest, they had enough players to form a third team, and this pattern has snowballed over the years for the club to now boast five teams in the local senior league, and 10 teams who play in the local junior league (running from U10 to U16).
Llandudno Netball Club are a hub for players of all abilities. Whether someone is a complete beginner, wants to join in with training casually, get involved for social reasons, or play competitively and perform at the highest level, all are welcome through a diverse range of opportunities and support due to their inclusive nature. Two individuals told us:
“Llandudno Netball club are incredibly welcoming and supportive, the kind of environment where everyone feels they belong. The training sessions cater to all abilities, and I always leave knowing that I have learnt something to take into a league/competitive game. Being a mum and having responsibilities at home for little ones, the club understands players cannot always attend every session that they would like to. No pressure. Whether you’re a complete beginner or getting back into the game, there’s space to grow and have fun.” – Perrin (Senior Player and Committee Member)
“The club has been such a big part to my daughter’s life for 9 years. They have encouraged her to learn and grow new skills and make friends. The coaches are always there to support and pick the girls up through the success and challenges of the sport.” – Stacey, Parent of U16 player
They are fortunate to have an incredibly passionate team of coaches at the club who all volunteer their spare time to provide women and girls with the experience of playing netball. They are approachable and committed to every player, delivering excellent communication to all.
“Llandudno Netball Club is a family where everyone’s welcome. Age group players, adult players, coaches, umpires, parents and partners are all part of the family, and it makes a fun, supportive place to be involved with netball. We proudly support performance players and newcomers alike, because we care about the person and want them to develop a lifelong love for netball.” – Nic, Junior Coach.
As a club, their support extends beyond their players to other local clubs and charity events which raise money for special causes. Some of their members hold positions on the local junior and senior league committees, extending their reach of voluntary contribution for netball in their area. They also support their coaches in development through access to courses and have qualified 6 umpires and 3 trainee umpires at the club.
Due to their hard work across the board, the club have ended their season on a high, with impressive wins across the North West Netball League, including Llandudno Jets Division 1 winners, Llandudno Knicks Division 2 winners, Llandudno Tornadoes Division 3 runners up, Llandudno Blazers Division 4 winners, and their U16’s having qualified for our National Finals held back in March.
Wales Netball want to thank Llandudno Netball Club and all those involved in its successful running, for providing a space for women and girls to access the sport regardless of their ambitions or aims. All the best for the future!
At the halfway point of every month, Wales Netball will announce its Organisation of the Month. An article will be displayed on our website and a post will be shared across all our social media channels.
