With the return of outdoor modified netball for adults fast approaching we have taken the decision to conclude our popular Netball Nights In programme to allow clubs to concentrate on the return of netball.
Netball Nights In has been a fantastic success during what has been an incredibly difficult time for the netball community. We first started Netball Nights In during the initial firebreak lockdown in Autumn 2020 and have run a range of free online activities during the lockdowns ever since. These sessions have engaged and entertained netballers of all ages from across the country and have been made possible thanks to the amazing effort of some inspirational sporting role models and those well known in their field outside Netball.
During the Netball Nights In programme, over 1,400 participants logged and got involved. During the last few months, we have ran over 30 individual sessions for the netball community to enjoy including differentiated workout sessions with Kyra Jones, strength and balance sessions with Alecs Donovan, a Q&A session with Strictly Come Dancing’s Katya Jones and a Christmas party with Nia Jones. Furthermore, recordings of many of our sessions are available to access on our Vimeo channel here.
Vicki Sutton, Welsh Netball Community Lead said: “We have had an absolute blast running Netball Nights In and we were so pleased by the reception our sessions received. The last six months have been so hard with all of the pandemic restrictions so it has been great to keep our netball communities active and engaged during this tough time.
“Now that restrictions are easing and we are starting to return to netball training once again, we think it is now time to conclude Netball Nights In. We will be supporting the netball community with the return to netball journey this spring and summer and we can’t wait to get all of our members back out on court again!
“I would like to thank everyone who got involved with Netball Nights In, particularly our fantastic session leaders and guests who have given up their time to keep us active and engaged this last few months.”
