What is the Members Council?
The council is structured to ensure representation from every corner of Wales, with eight regional seats covering Afan Nedd Tawe, Cardiff and Vale, Glamorgan Valleys, North West, North East, Powys, South East and West Wales.
Alongside these regional Member-Nominated Councillors, the Members Council will also include the elected Wales Netball President and Vice President, a nominated Player Representative Councillor, the Forward Futures Collective Chair and a non-voting Wales Netball executive.
Members elected to the Council will hold a formal governance role within Wales Netball -attending meetings, representing their communities and feeding member priorities directly into national decision-making. The Council will be governed by the Members Council Terms of Reference - voted in by the members.
Wales Netball's Ymladd 2030 strategy - meaning "to fight" or "to engage" - sets out a bold ambition to grow the game, strengthen the performance pathway and build a more transparent, accountable governing body. The Member’s Council is central to that commitment.
Member-Nominated Councillors
There will be eight Councillor's to ensure that all eight regions are represented on the Council. The Councillors will be nominated for the region, by the region, and voted in at Annual General Meetings by the members. Councillors will:
- Act as a communications conduit to and from their stakeholder group (including their Nominator Region);
- Guide and support the delivery of county, venue and regional forums;
- Keep an overall check that their region is taking appropriate steps to comply in relevant areas such as the Association governance standards, safeguarding, data protection, performance, etc;
- Be a part of an appropriate and open selection process with their Nominator Region to encourage a true representation of netball in Wales, taking into account the need for diversity and inclusivity on the Council; and
- Be a member of a Workstream
