Player Bio

Helen Weston is Welsh Feather #100 and has a place in netball history as holding the record for most individual caps for over 30 years with 111 before being overtaken by only one other player in Welsh Feathers history (Suzy Drane #168). Helens illustrious netball career is incredible, with her being part of the squad for an incredible 4 World Cups, the 4th World Games (a competition for sports not in the Olympics) and the 16th Commonwealth games. Helens first World Cup was the 6th World Cup – hosted by Singapore in 1983 – and she played 5 games against Trinidad, Australia, Singapore, Northern Ireland and Jamaica. The second World Cup for Helen was the 8th World Cup – hosted by Australia in 1991 – where she played a huge 11 games against countries like Malaysia, Western Samoa, Fiji, Australia, Sri Lanka, Cayman Islands and Canada. Straight after the 8th World Cup Helen was part of the squad for the International against West Indies on 12/11/1991. For the 4th World Games – hosted by the Netherlands in 1993 – she played 5 games total against countries she’d previously played. After that came her third World Cup which was the 9th World Cup – hosted by England in 1995 – where she was able to play 8 games and fought against new opponents Malta and Hong Kong. In the 16th Commonwealth Games – hosted by Malaysia in 1998 – Helen played in 5 games and added Cook Islands, Malawi and New Zealand to the list of countries she played against! In the 10th World Cup – hosted by New Zealand in 1999 – Helen played another 11 games against more new countries like Vanuatu, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago and the United States (this was her 100th game!). Helens final game was played in an International against Barbados in 12/03/2002.
