Maria Penikett (nee Nielsen) is Welsh Feather #75 and was able to play in the 3rd Netball World Cup hosted by Jamaica in 1971, this allowed her to play countries like Trinidad, Bahamas, New Zealand, Australia as well as the Home Nations (England, Scotland, Northern Ireland). Maria was also a member of the squad in the 06/03/1977 International against the Republic of Ireland and was able to play in the 5th Netball World Cup hosted by Trinidad & Tobago in 1979 which gave her games against countries like Jamaica, St Vincent, Trinidad, Barbados and New Zealand.
Maria Penikett was also able to compete in the 7th Netball World Cup hosted by Scotland in 1987, this allowed her to play against Malaysia, Barbados, Republic of Ireland, Cook Islands, New Zealand and Papau New Guinea.
Maria played Goal Defence, Wing Defence, Wing Attack and Centre and was from South Glamorgan.
