Welsh Netball is pleased to announce that it has appointed Sarah Lewis as the Assistant Coach for the Wales senior team. Sarah will join the management team led by head coach Sara Hale, fellow assistant coach Jenna Adamson and team manager Lavinia Baker.
Sarah first became involved in coaching at international level in 2015 when she was part of the coaching team that took Wales Under 21 on tour to South Africa. She returned as an assistant coach with the Under 21 side in 2018 and helped Wales to a silver medal at the Netball Europe U21 Championship in Worcester in October 2019. In addition to this, Sarah has been an area coach for the Afan-Nedd-Tawe Under 18 team and also has 10 years’ experience as a Level 1 and Level 2 coach education tutor and assessor.
Sarah works as a senior lecturer and curriculum leader in Gower College, Swansea where she also coaches the college’s netball academy who compete in the AOC Wales League. Her Gower College team have won a number of Welsh and UK titles under her leadership.
Sarah is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Coaching and Performance at the University of South Wales where she is also completing her Level 3 coaching qualification.
Sharing her excitement at starting a new role with the Wales senior squad, Sarah said: “I am privileged and so excited to selected as an assistant coach for the Wales senior team.
“This role has been something that I have aspired to do for a very long time. To be part of such an experienced and driven team is such an honour and I am looking forward to working with these athletes and the rest of the management team in the journey towards the Commonwealth Games and World Cup.”
