Welsh Netball was pleased to share in the fantastic achievements of Sêr y Byd Netball Club over the last year. Wales’ only all-ability netball club have already achieved so much in very little time, including being mascots for the Swansea University Series between Wales and the New Zealand Silver Ferns and competing at last year’s Special Olympics. They are also big Celtic Dragons fans having recently attended the Celtic Dragons v Loughborough Lightning match in Cardiff.
Sêr y Byd have recently held their presentation day where over 80 club members, coaches, teachers, family and friends gathered to reflect on another fantastic year. This year they competed in the 5th division of the Llanelli league and won three matches – drawing two – taking 19 points in the process. In total, the team scored over 120 goals!
Denise Craddock, Chair of the Llanelli Netball League shared her praise for Sêr y Byd. She said: “Sêr y Byd is very much a part of our netball family and the Llanelli league is right behind you.” She was pleased to share that next year Sêr y Byd will compete in 10 league matches.
Ben Williams, Welsh Netball’s Head of Community Development presented some awards to Sêr y Byd players. He was full of admiration for the work of the players and coaches. He said: “We are extremely proud to have Sêr y Byd as an inclusive netball club representing the whole of Wales. Thank you to everyone who works to make it such a success and it’s great to see all of the support from family and friends here today.”
Welsh Netball wishes to congratulate all of the award winners and wish everyone at Sêr y Byd all the best for another fantastic season competing in the Llanelli Netball League.
