Success for Sketty Stars in their Maiden Season

It has been quite the year for a brand-new netball club from Swansea Bay who have enjoyed success both on and off the court in their very first season.

With well over two dozen players, the club trains out of Gower College on Sundays (4.30pm until 6pm) and competes in Division 2 of the Swansea Bay Netball League. Despite it being their first year in the competition, Sketty Stars amassed five wins from five games and a very impressive +70 goals difference to take the title.

Moreover, Sketty Stars made it through as winners of their regional qualifier tournament to earn a place at the Welsh Netball U12 National Clubs Competition to take place in Bangor on 11 May.

The team has worked hard off the court, enlisting the help of Wales and Celtic Dragons pros to give them the edge at training. The club has welcomed the likes of Kyra Jones, Nia Jones and Beth Dyke to sessions where the players have been put through their paces.

They have also been busy off the court, fostering a strong club identity. Sketty Stars have enjoyed trips to see Superleague games and have also enjoyed a team building outing to laser tag!

Welsh Netball would like to wish Sketty Stars all the best as they prepare for the National Clubs Competition in a few weeks time and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for the club!
