Updated: Tier 4 Restrictions

This article has been updated to reflect the move to tier 4 restrictions that was brought forward from the 24th December to the 19th December

Welsh Netball will continue to work with the Welsh Government via the Welsh Sports Association throughout December and January as Wales is poised to move to Level 4 Covid-19 restrictions; which will see the closure of indoor and outdoor netball courts from 19th December onwards. (See here for full Information on Tiered Restrictions)

While we had suggested a pause to Community Netball activity earlier this month, that suggestion will now be mandatory from December 19th.

The Welsh Government plans to review Level 4 restrictions after three weeks and have not given a specific end date for these restrictions

Commenting on the latest restrictions being introduced across Wales, Sarah Jones Chief Executive of Welsh Netball said:

“We recognise the difficult decisions that have to be taken and that the latest Level 4 restrictions are being introduced to stop the spread of Covid-19 in Wales as case numbers continue to rise.  Naturally we are disappointed that we have to suspend all netball activity once again, but the safety of the netball community remains the top priority. Over the coming weeks we will continue to work hard to ensure our sport can return from these restrictions as quickly as possible”

Please keep an eye on our website and social media channels for news on lockdown programming over the Christmas period. Thank you to everyone who has helped keep some semblance of our sport alive during 2020. We are hopeful for a more positive 2021. In the meantime, enjoy the Christmas break and stay safe.
