Wales set to host Uganda in October

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a series of matches against Uganda this October. We will face the Ugandan She Cranes for 2 matches on Saturday 1st October and Sunday 2nd October 2022. These matches will be played at House of Sport in Cardiff which will be the official home match venue of not only the Celtic Dragons but also the Wales National Team moving forwards.

We have faced Uganda three times in the past. The last time the Wales Senior Squad faced the Ugandan She Cranes was back in 2018 in the 21st Commonwealth Games in Australia. Uganda won the match with a score of 76-40. Before this, we were victorious twice when we played the She Cranes in the 2015 Netball World Cup. First in the preliminary round match where we beat them 49-47, then secondly when we played them in the 7th place playoff where we won 64-41.

As we draw closer to the World Cup Qualifiers, this series provides pivotal experience and exposure against one of the best teams in the world. CEO Vicki Sutton said “What a joy it will be to host the She Cranes at House of Sport. The venue has over 1,000 seats and we hope they will all be full following our great performances at the Commonwealth Games. The focus of Sara and her team is now firmly set on World Cup Qualification and playing two matches against Uganda will be invaluable preparation for the tournament in mid-October.

Wales will face Uganda on Saturday 1st October at 7pm and Sunday 2nd October at 2.45pm at House of Wales, Cardiff. We are thrilled to confirm that Sunday’s match will be streamed live on S4C.
