Volunteer of the Month

Wales Netball would like to apologise to Caitlin for several inaccuracies in the original post, which were due to an error in our process. The below article now accurately reflects the amazing work that Caitlin does on behalf of the netball community of Wrexham.

Our next Volunteer of the Month is a 21-year-old who’s had a huge impact on the netballing community in North Wales. This volunteer in question is none other than Caitlin Jones from Wrexham!

Caitlin is currently attending University and holding down a part-time job, whilst still managing to give her all to the netball community! She has founded a netball club, started a league & also coaches two junior teams at Wrexham Netball Club.  Amazingly she still find’s time to play herself – being selected this year for the inaugural North East Inferno National League squad, and playing for Deeside Netball Club’s Premiership team.

Caitlin’s most-cited achievement by her nominators however, was that of creating & running Phoenix ‘back to netball’ club, which she founded at the start of 2022 (and more recently a ‘back to netball’ league) for adults of all abilities. She created ‘Phoenix’ to give women the chance to play netball and build their confidence along the way. The club now has four teams, over 60 members, and has already had a hugely positive effect on those who’ve joined, both physically and socially! To find out more about Caitlin’s club, head to https://www.phoenixback2netball.com/.

Caitlin is undoubtedly a key member of the netball community – and has proven herself to be incredibly deserving of the honour of being Wales Netball’s second ever Volunteer of the Month! Well done, Caitlin!

Wales Netball’s Volunteers of the Month will be announced on the last day of each month, with an article going on our website and post going out across all social media channels.

If you would like to nominate your coach, an umpire, or someone who helps your netball club and the wider community, complete the nomination form using this link – https://forms.gle/fREqFRkPFyHnoPRn6
