Wales Announce Squad for World Cup Qualifier

Welsh Netball is pleased to announce its squad for this weekend’s Netball Europe World Cup qualifiers against Scotland and Northern Ireland to be held in Perth, Scotland, 19-21 January.

The squad is as follows:

Suzy Drane (C), Kelly Morgan (v/C), Georgia Rowe, Eleanor Roberts, Cara Lea Moseley, Sarah Llewellyn, Clare Jones, Kyra Jones, Bethan Dyke, Lateisha Kidner, Fern Davies and Nia Jones.

Head Coach, Trish Wilcox is excited about the prospect of facing off against Wales’ Celtic rivals. She said: “”We are very excited to be heading to Perth to take part in the Netball Europe World Cup Qualifiers. These matches are must wins for us with all three countries so evenly matched we are looking forward to three closely contested test matches. It is going to be a thrilling and tense couple of tests.”

She added: “We are confident in our abilities and have had an excellent preparation with the players well prepared to give it their all in the red dress.”

Head of Performance, Rosie Pretorius also added her thoughts ahead of the crunch tournament. She said: “The preparations for this tournament have been going really well with great performances against Samoa in December. The squad have been working extremely hard and we as a nation and organisation have every confidence in them to qualify for the World Cup in 2019.”

She urged fans to get behind the players in red as the netball season heats up: “I hope everyone at home will be cheering them on via the live stream. These next two games are critical for us and the team are focused and raring to take on the challenge.”

Match schedule for Wales:

Friday 19 January: Wales vs Scotland at 19.30

Saturday 20 January: Wales vs Northern Ireland at 15.00
