Wales Head North for Seek a Place at the 2019 World Cup

Wales will be heading off to Scotland on Friday 19 January to participate in the Netball Europe World Cup qualifiers. With only two spaces and three teams competing, it promises to be a tense weekend of netball with a place in netball’s blue riband event at stake.

Wales go to these qualifying matches buoyed after an impressive 2-nil series victory over Samoa in the recent Wendy White Series in Cardiff. On Friday 19 January, Wales will take on the hosts, Scotland at 7.30pm and then the next day (Saturday 20 January) the players in red will turn their attention to Northern Ireland at 3pm.

At the recent Netball Europe Open Championships held in Cardiff, the three teams were very closely matched. Wales went down by one goal against Northern Ireland as a late Wales goal agonisingly bounced off the rim, meanwhile Northern Ireland beat Scotland by another one goal margin to take second place behind England.

The team for the Netball Europe World Cup qualifiers will be announced in due course.
