Wales’s National Netball Team will come together once again this month as they play the South African SPAR Proteas in Lisburn on Sunday 24th October.
After the recent cancellation of the Margaret Beckford Sunshine Series, Netball South Africa have changed their itinerary and are making the journey to Northern Ireland.
As the current rankings stand, the SPAR Proteas are 5th with Wales taking 9th place behind Malawi, Uganda, and Scotland. This is an opportunity for Wales to test themselves against one of the top ranked teams in the world, which will provide vital preparation as Wales aim to qualify for Commonwealth Games 2022.
Head coach Sara Hale said “Any opportunity for us to play against South Africa is a welcome one, particularly on UK soil. We are really looking forward to travelling to Northern Ireland to face the SPAR Proteas to test ourselves in what is a crucial year for us, as we aim to qualify for Commonwealth Games.”
Sara Hale will be taking a squad of 12 players to Northern Ireland to face South Africa. The squad will be announced soon.
