Wales Netball CEO to leave Governing Body after 6 years

Chief Executive Sarah Jones will leave Wales Netball just before Christmas after 6 years leading the Governing Body.

Wales Netball Chair Catherine Lewis said “Sarah is leaving us to start the next exciting chapter in her career. Over the past 6 years Sarah has made an enormous contribution and has had a very positive impact on the growth and stabilisation of netball in Wales. She leaves the sport in a better shape with both participation and membership numbers pre the COVID 19 pandemic at its highest ever. Sarah has led Wales Netball through a very difficult 18 months and built the foundations to spring out of the COVID lockdowns.”

Jones was tasked with leading the NGB through a transformative period, after several quick changes in CEO. During the last 6 years, ensuring stable foundations has allowed Wales Netball to grow, diversify and develop in to an innovative and progressive National Governing Body.

Jones said “I have put my heart and soul in to leading Wales Netball, and it has been an absolute privilege. The ambition was always to ensure the NGB had strong financial foundations, good governance, membership growth and to start the journey for long term success on the world stage. We have seen huge successes and progress over that time and the NGB is well positioned for future growth. I will always be proud of our achievements and the journey.

Jones added “The time is right for me to move on to undertake a very different challenge, but I will continue to follow Wales Netball’s progress with interest, it is surrounded by great people and the future is exciting”

Catherine Lewis stated that the search for the new CEO will commence immediately.
