Wales Netball Thank Pam Lane for Her Donation to the Support fund

Pam Lane has been a key member of the Netball community since she started playing in 1945. From playing, umpiring, and coaching, Pam has made a huge impact on the sport in Wales.

Recently Pam kindly donated to the newly formed Wales Netball ‘Support Fund’. The Support fund has been put in place to support talented athletes in the Wales pathway with financial assistance to attend training and competition if they are experiences financial challenges, particularly given the effects the pandemic has had on families across Wales. The support fund will be formally launched just before Christmas on the Wales Netball Website and social media channels. The launch document will provide full details full details on eligibility and how to apply.

Pam’s journey with Wales Netball started when she became the umpiring secretary (when the organisation was known as the WNA). After being in the role for 12 years she became the Vice chair then Chair.

When Pam moved to Wales, she started her netball journey by coaching at the old YMCA in Barry. After successfully coaching them to being joint winners of the National YMCA tournament, Pam was appointed the Assistant Leader at the Barry Youth Centre, where she started a netball section. From there on, her members grew with some feeding into the national squads at U18’s level, U21’s level and Senior Level.

Deservedly so, Pam was given a Welsh Hall of Fame Award as an Unsung Hero in 1998. CEO Sarah Jones said “Pam has been a role model to aspiring netballers, young and old. Pam has helped a lot of people throughout her journey in netball and this donation will help a lot more.”

Thank you Pam
