Wales Senior and U21 teams to play South Africa in June Test Series

Welsh Netball is excited to announce a three test series
against South Africa!

Wales Senior and U21 teams will play a three test series on
17th, 18th & 19th June against South
Africa Spar Proteas and South Africa U21’s in Durban, South Africa. This is a great
opportunity for Wales to play the 5th INF ranked country in the
world following on from Wales highest ranked 7th placing at last year’s
Netball World cup for 24 years.

Wales U21 will play three matches as curtain raisers to the
senior side. This provides a perfect opportunity for the U21 team in preparation
for their upcoming Netball Europe tournament in October 2016. This year U21
Netball Europe is also a qualifying tournament for the U21 World Youth Cup.

Head of Elite Performance – Trish Wilcox mentioned

‘this gives us the opportunity to
continue the momentum that we have built from the 2015 Netball World Cup in
Sydney, Australia where we achieved our highest placing in 24 years.  It is important that we continue to challenge
ourselves against these top ranked teams as this can only benefit Wales senior
and U21 players and the development of the game in Wales. In addition, to us as
a nation striving to attain a higher world ranking’.
