What a season for Welsh International netball! Our Welsh Feathers have played seven International matches this season, all within eight days!
- Two newly capped Feathers: Millie Carter (Feather #230) and Ellie Blackwell (Feather #231).
- Georgia Rowe achieving her 75th Cap for Wales.
- Two commanding wins against Zimbabwe on 22 & 23 November at the House of Sport in Cardiff showcased our strength and ambition.
- This week’s Celtic Cup in Glasgow brought fierce competition, with Uganda’s She Cranes claiming the title in a thrilling final. Their victory highlights the growing global standard of netball—and Wales is right there in the mix.
While the result didn’t go our way at the Celtic Cup, the Welsh Feathers demonstrated resilience and world-class skill against the sport’s top-ranked teams, from 7th to 13th. Every match was a statement: Wales belongs on the international stage.
Our athletes remain an inspiration—balancing full-time careers while representing the highest-ranked female sports team in Wales, all without pay. Their commitment is unmatched, and their hunger for success is stronger than ever.
Our Head Coach, Emily Handyside, said “The Celtic Cup was a fantastic opportunity to test ourselves and build confidence, and the international season has shown the depth and resilience of this squad. As we approach the Commonwealth Games, our focus is sharper than ever. We’re committed to delivering performances that make our supporters proud and demonstrate the progress we’ve worked so hard to achieve.”
Our CEO, Sarah Boswell, said “The success of a Home Test Series, a second Celtic Cup and the momentum from an outstanding international netball season have set the perfect stage as we head into the Commonwealth Games. These achievements reflect the dedication of our athletes, coaches, and supporters, and they inspire confidence as we head into 2026 whilst competing at the highest level. Together, we’re building a legacy of excellence and pride for our sport.”
With Glasgow 2026 and the Commonwealth Games on the horizon, and a new strategic direction for Wales Netball in Ymladd 2030, this is a pivotal moment for Welsh netball. We’re building a future where our players have the resources they deserve—and where partners can share in the growth of one of the fastest-rising sports in the UK.
