Welsh Netball Confirm Multi-Platform Broadcast for Wales v Silver Ferns Matches.

In another significant step for women’s sport in Wales, the upcoming Swansea University International Test Series – Wales v Silver Ferns, will be broadcast live on multiple platforms across the BBC and S4C.

“This historic test series continues to go from strength to strength, now with never seen before coverage for netball in Wales,” says Welsh Netball CEO, Sarah Jones.

“We are working in partnership with BBC Wales, Sky New Zealand and S4C, to reach new audiences through different forms of broadcast media. Both games against silver ferns being will be shown on the following platforms:

·         Live coverage on bbc.co.uk

·         Live coverage on the BBC Red Button (Live Tuesday, delayed Wednesday)

·         iPlayer

·         BBC Wales Sport Facebook

·         Highlights on S4C’s programme Clwb 2 on Sunday 12th February.

“This is the first step of what we anticipate to become the norm for netball in Wales – a 3,000 seated arena, live broadcast coverage across multiple platforms, and record breaking ticket sales,” says Sarah Jones.

“To be able to work with these broadcasters enables new people to experience netball, and is critical in the development of the sport.

“This is a vital piece of the puzzle in gaining greater exposure for netball and women’s sport. Equally, this has been picked up and broadcast in NZ and therefore not only a new platform for the sport, but for Wales as a nation.

“This is a truly exciting time for our game.”
