Welsh Netball Membership Grows by 20% in Two Years

Welsh Netball is pleased and proud to announce that its number of affiliated members has grown by 20% since the 2014/15 season. This increase, along with a rise in the number of affiliated clubs, comes at an exciting time for the growth of netball internationally.

Ben Williams, Welsh Netball’s Head of Community Development, was pleased with the sustained growth of game in Wales. He said: “To see substantial membership growth is a testament to the commitment and determination of the entire netball family here in Wales.”

Williams added: “The hard work both within the organisation as well as from our volunteers in the community and schools means that netball is certainly on the rise!”

Sarah Jones, Welsh Netball CEO, also commented saying: “It is great to see this increase in Welsh Netball membership and I would like to thank our volunteers, Netball Development Officers and the netball community for helping to achieve this.”

“The growth of netball in Wales is so important, not only for the elite end of the game, but to ensure opportunities to play this sport are out there for women and girls at recreational level. Netball is undoubtedly playing a big part in helping improve the health and wellbeing of women and girls across Wales.”

She added: “There is more to do, as we look to continue to grow the game, and we will continue to look at ways to add value to our membership offer and make sure it grows in tandem with the sport.”
