Netball in Wales continues to grow in popularity, with the Anglo-Welsh Wye Valley Netball League no exception. Next season, there will be three new teams entering the Welsh Netball affiliated league.
In September, two additional teams from Usk and Chepstow will join the league as well as a new entrant from Pontypool. They will join the league that already features teams from Abergavenny, Monmouth, Haberdashers, Ross-on-Wye and the Forest of Dean.
The growth of the league reflects netball’s popularity in the South East region and Wye Valley Netball League chair, Claire Powell, shared her excitement at the season to come.
“We are delighted to have three new teams join the Wye Valley Netball League. We rely on involvement from the local sides and without their support, we couldn’t continue to enjoy this wonderful sport.
“Wye Valley is a brilliant and competitive league, and everyone involved has a huge love for the sport, so to see the league develop and grow in this way is absolutely fantastic.”
Netball Development Officer for South East Wales, Emma Adams also spoke of her pride at seeing the league add three teams.
“The growth of the Wye Valley League shows just how popular netball is in South East Wales. It also reflects the hard work of the league and the clubs in the area to get women and girls involved with the sport. I wish the league all the best for a busy 2018/19 season!”
