Welsh Netball Talent Centres Open for Nominations

UPDATE (20 December 2019)

There has been an extension to the deadline for nominations for the Welsh Netball Talent Centre programme. The deadline has moved from Mon 6 January to Wed 8 January to allow additional time for submissions over the winter holiday period.

In addition to this, Welsh Netball would like to clarify that whilst we have placed a maximum number of nominations per club (6) we are aware some clubs may not have 6 and others may have more. Should you feel that you have players in your environment that meet the selection criteria please do send in a nomination for them and contact Lucy Howells, as we are willing to extend this number should a player meet all of the criteria. We want to find the very best future talent and no just an equal number geographically.

Finally, there have been some queries regarding nominees born in 2003. If you are 2003 born you will find that depending on the time of year you could be selected for the U17 Talent Centre programme, yet not be eligible for the U17 Netball Europe competition. However, we are still keen for you to be nominated as we are hopeful that if your development has improved through this programme, you will place yourself in a strong position for the U21 age group. We are working on some exciting plans to ensure that we have multiple selection opportunities for age groups as opposed to once per year based on your age, as we are keen to find great netball players that can progress to being excellent senior elite athletes and your ability is not based on your age.

Welsh Netball is looking for talented players to trial for our U17 and U21 Talent Centres as part of our Performance Pathway.

The Welsh Netball Talent Centres are designed to identify and develop potential future National Squad players. We are focused on developing the ‘whole player’ to play netball ‘the Welsh Way’.

To be selected and to participate in the Talent Centre programme, players must first be nominated by their club/county coach. Parent/guardian nominations are not allowed unless the parent also holds the above role. Each club/team has a maximum of 6 nominations. Criteria will be assessed stringently.

If the application is successful, the player will receive an invite to the trial for their selected centre. All trials will take place in January.

To find out more information about the Talent Centre programme and to nominate a player, please download the information and nomination forms using the buttons below.

Nomination forms must be completed and returned to Lucy.Howells@walesnetball.com by midday on Wednesday 8th January 2020.
